Funny story

I had my last interview with Pres Martinez before he leaves in July.
Hey Mom,                                           May 25, 2014

This week I received my new comp. He is from Hawaii. He just got out of the Mtc in Mexico and doesn't know a lick of spanish. But he is very loving and a great kid. He is 18 and he won't turn 19 until September. See he is pretty young! But a great kid! As far as the work goes it was kind of a bad week for us. Just how last week we were able to find lots of new people and get lots of people to church. This week was the opposite. But we set some goals this week and we are just going to try and fix it so this week will be better.

Crazy story. This week we taught a lesson to three drunk guys in a house. 2 of them were making weird hand signals during the lesson, but the other one actually paid attention. He told me that he was a member. That him and his wife seperated and that ever since then he has had a drinking problem. But we commited him to coming to church this week. Then, one of the other drunk guys kissed me and my comp on the cheek. That's the second time that has happened to me in Chile, and I don't expect it to be the last.
I heard a quote this week. ¨The road to HELL is full of GREAT INTENTIONS. The road to SALVATION is full of GREAT ACTIONS.¨ I was really thinking about that and it makes alot of sense. I think hell would be looking back on life and seeing what COULD have been. Its time to ACT.
Love YOU!

Hey Mom,                                                                                         May 19, 2014

How are ya? I hope that all is well back at home and like always, thanks for the email and all the updates, I really appreciate them.

Yea dad told me he spoke. And he is right. Alot of people talk about the gospel, but there comes a point where you need to live it. I think it was King Benjamin when he said ¨Now if ye believe these things, see that you do them¨ The gospel does us no good to know its true, if we don’t act upon the knowledge that we have.

Well this week I found out that I will be training. I have to go pick up my ¨Kid¨ tomorrow. Then we start training. Really nervous. I hope that I can do what the president and the mission expects me to do!

This week also was crazy as far as numbers go. We found 2 families and both of them came to church. We had a total of 10 investigators in church. Which for the mission is a high number. Its the most my comp has had and he finishes in 4 weeks. I don’t know why everyone came. But they did. I hope that they all liked church and hopefully they will get baptized.

Our other two baptisms that we had planned backed out. Sorta feel bad for that but I don’t know what else to do. I guess just keep going!

Have a great week and know that I pray for you guys every day! Love you!

Hey Mom!                                                      April 28, 2014

How’s it going! Yea my mission president is awesome. I talked to him and told him that everything was fine. Yea that’s good to know that you guys were making sure I was okay though. I’m glad to have a family like that.
How have you been? I hope well! This week our zone had a competition to see who could get the most lessons with members in one week. We taught 21 lessons with members this week. We don’t know how but we did. But the zone leaders beat us barely. And our investigator and her daughter, the ones we have been teaching have a baptismal date for the 10th of May. I really hope that they can go through with it!

The members in Canete are really good. They all feed us and take care of us. And we pay someone to do our laundry haha. The money that we get each month is enough. In fact, this month I am ending with quite a bit of money. But I need to start eating a better breakfast.  I can’t wait to see you guys on Mothers Day it is going to be awesome! But I love you mom! You’re the best!

Elder Noel!

(Explantion:  We got a call in the middle of the night from some foreign number.  We didn't know who it was so, we contacted Pres. Martinez.  He called Hayden and checked on him. Hayden was fine and actually headed out the door to go running with his comp.  Thanks heavens for a thoughtful mission president to check on a missionary for some worried parents!)
